Recent NACE Survey Highlights Engineering Degrees High Starting Pay

This HotJobs article reports that Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mining & Mineral Engineering (including Geological), Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics & Communications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, and Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering are in the top ten when it comes to starting salary.  The article generally presents a very positive picture for engineering.   A little more research presents a mixed picture.  Although engineering jobs do generally provide higher starting salaries some engineering positions appear to be growing at a rather low rate over the ten year projection period from 2008 to 2018 obtained from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and listed below.
